Chipley Public Library Launches Innovative "Story Time in the Park" Program

CHIPLEY, FL — The Chipley Public Library is bringing the joy of reading outdoors this spring with its new "Story Time in the Park" program, designed to engage young readers and their families in a refreshing new way. Kicking off next Saturday, the initiative aims to combine literacy with nature, fostering a love for books in a relaxed, open-air setting.

"We wanted to create a unique experience that goes beyond the traditional library walls," explained Library Director Maria Rodriguez. "By bringing story time to our beautiful local parks, we're hoping to attract new families, encourage outdoor activity, and show that reading can happen anywhere."

The inaugural session will take place at Falling Waters State Park, with librarians reading aloud from a selection of children's books, followed by nature-themed activities and crafts. Future sessions are planned for other parks throughout Chipley and Washington County, rotating locations to ensure accessibility for all residents.

Parents have already expressed excitement about the program. "It's a fantastic idea!" said Jessica Chen, a mother of two. "My kids love stories, and they love being outside. Combining the two is brilliant, and it gives us another wonderful family activity for the weekend."

The "Story Time in the Park" program is free and open to all. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs and enjoy a morning of stories, fresh air, and community connection.
